Newport

Another very dull day, it seemed a good idea to take others on our newly discovered Newport walk.

It was perfect for a dull day, and there were small changes,

to increase the river walking, and to try the Allt-yr-Yn Nature Reserve instead of the canal.

We also spent more time on the hill fort looking for the large old sweet chestnut tree.

This is a map of cycle routes in Newport. The Green route almost reflects what we did, except for the nature reserve, after which we followed the Sirhowy Valley walk through attractive parkland, followed by the hill fort in the Gaer area of Newport.
