Wells, the Ebbor Gorge

and the Priddy tumuli

 12th Sept 2015

We came here to avoid the rain, but it was raining so hard we delayed the walk.

Eventually it becams a beautiful evening!

We walked South out of Wells towards Wookey Hole and then through the Ebbor Gorge,

before rising to the top of the escarpment above Lynchcombe Nature Reserve,

and following the easy path along the top to Cook's Field Nature Reserve.

After that the direct field path to Priddy, a most interesting and attractive village,

before following Nine Barrows Lane to the famous Priddy Tumuli,

and an interesting path to St Cuthbert's Swallet.

Next the Monarch Way field path back to the escarpment,

and our own version of the final descent to Wells.

Afterwards we enjoyed the attractions of Wells around the cathedral and surrounding area.

There were many interesting places on this walk to return to.
