Dinas Powys

23rd Feb 2013

Forecast to be a very dull cold day, it was cold but brighter than expected.

We chose a very local walk, starting at the common in Dinas Powys.

First we explored the remains of the huge castle at Dinas, which sadly are in quite a bad state, and also overgrown,

then we walked through some lovely wooded country, passing some more ancient earthworks,

and then the salmon leaps on Wrinstone Brook.

We passed the lovely village of Michaelston-le-pit, and then made our way south,

past Old Cogan Hill Farm, to Cosmeston Lake, and then beyond to the coast at St. Mary's Well Bay.

Returning started off well, but then became very muddy, so better to find a different route next time,
